Meet the Team
Elizabeth Kennedy, LPC-S, LMFT
Owner & Therapist
Elizabeth Kennedy is a Licensed Professional Counselor–Supervisor (LPC-S) and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) who brings warmth, steadiness, and clinical depth into every session. She earned her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Counseling and Therapy from Capella University and her Bachelor of Arts in Religious Education from Louisiana College. With decades of experience in both counseling and church ministry, Elizabeth offers a safe, grounded space for those healing from emotional wounds, relational pain, or spiritual trauma — always meeting clients with respect and compassion.
She works with individuals, couples, and families navigating trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges. Elizabeth is especially well-suited for those who feel stuck in repeating patterns and want to understand how their life story has shaped their present. Her approach integrates Story-Informed Trauma Therapy (SITT) and attachment-based principles to help clients make sense of their past while building healthier connections in the present.
Elizabeth views the therapy room as a steady, supportive environment where clients can slow down, feel seen and heard, and do meaningful work. She offers both honesty and encouragement — helping clients connect past experiences to current struggles and move toward clarity, stability, and growth.
In addition to counseling services, Elizabeth provides clinical supervision for PLPCs in Louisiana. Her supervision style is reflective, structured, and growth-oriented, designed to strengthen clinical judgment, ethical practice, and professional confidence. She is committed to developing competent, grounded clinicians who serve their clients with integrity and skill.
Elizabeth believes deeply that healing is possible. Her role is to help clients — and supervisees — rediscover their capacity for change and move forward with confidence and hope.
Derek Kennedy, Ordained Minister
Owner & Trauma Trained Pastoral Counseling
Derek Kennedy is an ordained minister and trauma-informed story work practitioner in training who brings a calm, grounding presence to the individuals and couples he serves. With many years of experience as a pastor and in pastoral counseling, Derek has walked with people through some of life’s most painful and transformative moments. He is currently completing his degree in psychology, further expanding his clinical knowledge and deepening his ability to support clients through emotional and spiritual growth.
Derek works with clients who are seeking a compassionate guide to help them make sense of their story—people who feel burdened by past experiences, overwhelmed by present stress, or disconnected from their sense of purpose. He is especially well suited for those navigating spiritual wounds, identity confusion, relational struggles, and the lingering effects of trauma.
Drawing from trauma-informed narrative work, holistic health coaching, and spiritual formation, Derek helps clients understand the deeper patterns shaping their lives. His approach supports the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—and invites clients into a process of healing that is both gentle and honest.
Clients who benefit most from Derek’s care tend to be individuals longing for clarity, meaning, and emotional stability; those seeking support through faith transitions; and couples desiring healthier communication and deeper connection. Derek provides a safe, non-judgmental environment where clients can bring their full selves—questions, fears, hopes, and all—and feel genuinely heard.
At the core of Derek’s work is the belief that every person carries a story worth understanding and a capacity for transformation worth nurturing. He considers it an honor to walk with clients as they uncover truth, reclaim strength, and move toward a more grounded, purposeful way of living.
Derek and Elizabeth both came into their marriage with a background in ministry and love for others through their Christ-centered faith. After a decade of marriage, the couple is embarking on a new ministry of service together with the same vision began in each of them. Living Well Counseling is a professional ministry that has formed out of their journey together with God and the calling on their lives. Their hope is that all who embrace this journey with them will experience freedom and peace to live well!
